More tickets!
So, I had class from 10 till 11 today. Just like every other day, I picked up a free Metro newspaper to read on my journey to school. On the bus listening to my ipod while going through the paper, I was excited to read this,

"The Killers are joining Coldplay in a one-off gig to raise money for the War Child charity. The two bands will perform at Sheperd's Bush Empire, west London, straight after the Brit Awards on February 18. The 2000 tickets go on sale for £50 each via a lottery starting tomorrow."

But then since it was on a lottery system, and I have never really been 'lucky' with 'lucky draws', I didn't really consider getting the tickets. I had tickets for Coldplay's concert in September already anyway. I put that thought aside, and went to class.

After my one-hour class, I decided to spend more time in Uni in the computer lab. After going through my email and important stuff, I somehow remembered about the gig. So, I entered myself in the ballot, not really hoping for much. I'm sure tens of thousands signed up for the ballot, so I knew I had very little chance of being selected even though I asked Hadi to enter the ballot as well.

Some minutes after that, the bulb on the top of my brain somehow magically lit up, and I made a very brilliant decision.

I went to Coldplay's official website to check if they had any news on the small gig. And lucky me :

"Tickets to the event are £50 and will be available through a lottery system. The opportunity to enter the lottery will begin at 9am, Friday January 30th through www.warchildheroes.com. Coldplay.com also has a batch of 200 tickets which will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Check back to this website at 12noon 5pm tomorrow (Thursday) for details of how to buy some

So, I went back home, went online, wasted time in front of the computer until 4.45pm.

At 4.45pm, I opened Coldplay.com and refreshed the page every other minute. At 5.00pm sharp a link for the tickets appeared on the news page, but it went missing after a few seconds. Thank God I managed to click on it the first time it came out, and it directed me to ticketmaster.com, but the tickets were unavailable. So dramatic la kan these ticket people. It was barely there for a minute, there was no way the tickets were sold out! But then, there were only 200, so maybe they were already sold out. So being as deterministic as I am, I refreshed that page over, and over, and over, and over again.....

And yeay, I was one of the first 200 on the site. I managed to get 2 tickets for the show. :0)

Spital
My latest hospital experience was somewhere in 2006. No, I wasn't admitted or anything like that. Daddy was. He had to go through an angiogram, and I was class-free at that time. So, I teman-ed Papa in SJMC on the day he had the procedure. To those of you who don't know, an angiogram is a minor test on the heart, sort of like an X-Ray just to see if there's anything wrong with it. Being the lemah girl I am, seeing Papa being wheeled to the operating theatre made me cry, and believe me I was sobbing like a baby. There were no major risks or anything, and being an avid House M.D. and Grey's Anatomy fan, I supposedly knew the drill. There was no actual reason for me to cry, but I did. I guess it was then that I realised stuff on TV is merely just fiction.

It was just a few episodes of Grey's ago where I got annoyed with relatives of a patient on the show. The father was constantly making phone calls to the doctors asking for updates while the doctors' hands were busy cutting open his daughter. At that moment, I felt like smacking the father! Doesn't he know that there should not be any interrupting during surgery?

I guess when it is your eyes seeing your relative going into a scary operating theatre, and at the same time putting the fate of your relative in the hands of nurses and doctors you have never met before in your life, your judgment would be tainted. Your actions would be unreasonable. Your reflexes go a bit hay-wire.

Last week, Auntie Sue cried while Aleeya was being put to sleep for a surgery to remove her tonsil even though she knew that Apai and Amil both went through the same surgery with no glitch. Although I'm sure her first 'daughter-in-surgery' experience was super scary, Alhamdulillah Aleeya's surgery went fine. I am told that Aleeya is recuperating well. I hope her aunts and uncles are buying her loads of ice-cream for her throat! :0)

Oh, I want to share with you how much Grey's has helped in this story. Apparently Aleeya is also a fan of Grey's, and while she was being pushed into the operating theatre, Auntie Sue kept telling her, "It's just like on TV.. It's just like on TV." Haha.

Anyhus, get well soon Aleeya Qistina! Kak Yamin and Abang Hadi miss you loadz!

Hello you.
Exams are finally over. 'Yeay' because I don't have to go back to those booorriing subjects. 'Boo' because, well they are exams.

I think the past two (three?) weeks have been partly useless partly useful for me.

Useless because I spent most of the past few weeks in shorts and a t-shirt, which are so not flattering by anyone's standards - I realized this after someone actually telling me this to my face. Useless because I barely stepped foot out of the door - I realized this because my oyster balance maintained since last month. Useless because I barely had a conversation with anyone, not even online. Useless because, just because.

Useful because I used the spare time to prepare for my exams - or more like 'last-minute preparing'. Useful because I cooked almost everyday to avoid the cold weather outside - improved my culinary skills? Useful because I came to a realization to how big of a bum I actually am - blerrggh.

*sigh*

So, exams are over. The new term starts Monday.

I think I should be more productive, don't you?

Let's start by baking his favourite chocolate cake.

:0)

Our First 6th of January

"Here we are, here we are
Here we are, here we are
Here we are, here we are
Here we are, we're still here

And what a beautiful mess this is
It's like taking a guess when the only answer is yes."
