Happy 20th Opu!

Happy 20th Soraya Barakbahhh! I had a great time celebrating your bday in Bristolllll! Lepaking at the beach even though it wasn't that pretty, =0P was superrbbbbb....! Hahaaaaaa!

Okay, tukar topic. I hate McDreamy. Actually I hate the latest Grey's Anatomy episode. That episode sends out the exact opposite message from those sent out by all other shows or movies. Through television, all of us are brainwashed to believe in finding 'The One'. Shows like these make everyone confident that they will end up happy with the person they were born to be with. These shows support the fact that semua orang ada jodoh, it's just a matter of finding our other half. And Grey's Anatomy spoiled all those wonderful dreams. Not only McDreamy, all of them. Izzie + George, Addison + Alex + Mark...... Semualahh!

The writers and producers of Greys' may have had the good intention to expose the truth about the real world, to not let the public be mislead into believing that 'love' comes easy. Some of you may salute their effort, but I hate it. Sappy movies, no matter how ridiculously cliche they may be, are the ones that keeps our hopes there, especially in today's cruel lustful-loveless world.

I hate McDreamy. He was my knight in shining armour. Now he's just another MAN. =0(

Pop Culture Madness
Alia tagged me. So, here goes :

So, I had to go to the Pop Culture Madness site, pick the year I turned 18 years old, get myself nostalgic over the top songs for that year, write something about how those songs affected me, and then pass it on to 5 more friends.

Haha. Banyak kot lagu yang I can get myself nostalgic to. I always relate a lot of stuff to songs, and TV series, and movies. HahHAhahhhHAhaha! Okay, anyway. Back to the post.

I turned 18 in 2006. So here are the songs that made the charts in that year which I can get nostalgic over..

Beep - Pussycat Dolls : My theme song during our Record Breaking Kicking Event!! HahAHhhaHA! This song brings back lots of memories maaaannn!! Miss those kicking days. =0)

Chasing Cars - Snow Patrol : Danced a contemporary piece to this song. Yes, contemporary. Haha!

Irreplaceable - Beyonce : OMG. Lagu ni sangatla menusuk jiwa. Not because the song is 'meaningful' or whatever, but because this song was popular at the time when it meant the most to me. Dammm. I posted a video of Beyonce singing it live on this blog during those times. Those emotional times. Blehh.

Get Up - Ciara Featuring Chamillionaire : Danced to this song for the competition where I won 2nd place! This brings back loads of memories with the City Uni dance team! =0)

Sexy Love - Ne yo : Originally this song meant nothing to me, just another song overplayed on the radio. But after I heard someone important to me sing along to this song while it was played on the radio, things changed. Everytime I hear this song played, it reminds me of that particular person. Hmm. Nostalgic betull...

Okay minta maaf. I can't really be 'nostalgic' bout these songs, coz I just turned 18 last year. And the popular songs for that year are still being played this year, so that doesn't really give much room for me to be nostalgic. Blehh.

Dah cukup. Malas nak tulis lagi. So, who to tag? The first few names on my link list who hasn't been tagged yet : Li-Ann, Erin, Mars, Roy, Teddy. Skipped Tania coz she's not a blogger anymore, are you Tania?! =0P

I Finally Declare Myself to be a CHELSEA Fan
Ain't that funny? I used to diss football. I used to hate the fact that boys used to put football as their first priority, I used to resent conversations they had about them dumbos kicking that ball around that feild for 90++ minutes, I used to enjoy silently stealing the remote control from Ang and purposely changing the channel to Disney Channel just as Henry was about to score Arsenal's winning goal. Haha.

Well, maybe it's because I'm in the UK. And if you're here and you don't know who's playing in the FA Cup final this 19th May (Ehemm ehemmmm..), you deserve to be thrown out of the country.

Or maybe it's because of Apu. Wait, actually I'm sure it's because of Apu. He 'Chelsea-fied' me. He gave me Essien's signed photograph for my birhday, jangan jealousss....

So yeah. I am following football now. Following Chelea's glory, to be exact. ;0) I am not a devoted fan, but then I can be defensive about Chelsea at times. Well, Chelsea is the only team that is worth being defensive about, innit? =0)

Oh, and stop bickering about our last minute goals. We won those games didn't we??

"Flying high, up in the sky,
We'll keep the blue flag flying high
From Stamford Bridge to Wembley
We'll keep the blue flag flying high"

Oh. One more reason why Chelsea -- Jose Mourinho. =0)

I'm no Superman
Spring is here, and a lot has been done to enjoy the nice warm weather.

Sadly, I still had important things bothering my mind. I still had courseworks that need to be done and handed in. And of course, I had the huge burden of my final exams which is finally getting into my head. Urgh.

Don't worry, there has been progress, even though it is only moving at a terribly sluggish pace. *sigh* Should get my study mood switched on, and I need it switched on now.

Emotions have been going through an unpredictable roller coaster ride. Some decisions need to be made, but somehow undecidable. Sorry. Missing the presence of Mama + Papa dearly, especially since exams are just around the corner. Only they know how I ridiculously think too much about those papers. I should hold on to Papa's words which were given to me years ago when I was sitting for SPM -- "They are only papers. Can't harm you in any way." *sigh*

Okay, enough with the whining. Truth be told, despite the many complaints, I am indeed happy and contented. =0) Mostly because I have a lot to look forward to - Italy, Australia, New Zealand, and most importantly MALAYSIA. =0) I only have to go through my seven scary mary exam papers to thoroughly enjoy my Summer holidays. And I will indeed enjoy my Summer holidays. I will. I will.

Am I repeating those words for reassurrance? *sigh*

"I can’t do this all on my own. I'm no Superman."

Hey Yameen! How are you doing? The fabled flower gardens in Regent's Park exist? Tell me where! Going to go take some pictures before the flowers wilt! Anyway, for the exams, do all the past year questions (very true for FAIM) and you'll be fine!

By Anonymous Zhixin, at Thursday, April 19, 2007 4:19:00 PM

Aunty Lin ni. Cepatlah balik. Boleh makan macam-macam nanti.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at Friday, April 20, 2007 3:17:00 PM

Zhixin! There's actually 3/4 flower gardens in Regent's! Go find the park's map (which is posted almost everywhere in the park), and find your way to the gardens. It's really worth it. =0) Oh, and thanx for the tip. I need all the exams tips i can get now..

Auntie Lin, I'll be back soooonnnn!!!!!!! Yahhhooo!

Tarian Melayu
Oh My.

Yassmin just asked me to choreograph a bit of tarian Melayu to fit into our next performance.

Oh my.

Good luck to me. Hopefully whatever steps Teda, Fatin and all you other gals in KYS taught me for our union nights which I learnt around 5-6 years back are stll fresh in my memory.

=0P

And the best part about all this is the fact that I have to teach the routine to my dancemates. I have to make their jari-jemari s lembut.

Oh my.

Free, at last.
Easter holidays has just started for me, finally. And what way better to start the holidays with a dance performance. =0) I performed in the Tricycle Theatre in Kilburn for an event themed 'The Repercussions of Gun Crime', and it was the bomb! Our dance was basically based on the theme, so we had a 'dark & gloomy' part which I actually enjoyed the most! Go search for the song Shotta Nuh Miss by Movado, listen to the song, and you'll understand what I meant by 'dark & gloomy'. That whole part of the routine was sick, I tell you. All credits go to Yassmin for choreographing it. =0)

Anywaayyy, after the performance I found myself to be bored in my room alone. Was hoping to hang out in Canary Wharf for a movie or something, but the Canary Wharf people had guests over, so I was not welcomed to barge in, haha. =0P Soooo, I scanned through alluc.org's list of movies in hopes to watch some old movie I haven't watched, or a movie I would like to watch again.

And, I chose I am Sam.

Spectacular movie. I think comparing from most of the movies I've watched her act in, Dakota Fanning was most outstanding in this movie, and also during that particular age frame. Somehow I think the older she got, her acting didn't really give that much of a big impact as it did through this movie. And, Sean Penn's acting was S-I-C-K. He acted that part so well, I can never imagine how he was ever capable of doing it! Imagine having a camera in front of your face, with bright lights here and there, with a big number of people looking at you while you try to appear to be someone who is totally different in personality and habits! The way he talked, the way he walked, the way he laughed; everything Sam did was different from the real Sean Penn! Gila I tell you!

And the storyline itself. Heartrending I tell you. Perghh. It's movies like these that are capable of making you use your brain and heart to think about yourself and your values.

We need more. More and more people are becoming ignorant by day. We need fictional characters like Sam to make us sane again.

Fix You.
Last week, I expressed my feelings of guilt to several of you. I felt guilty for not missing home as much as I used to when I was in KYS. Even after being away for half a year now, I do not get that sudden urge of wanting to sleep in my bed in my own room, I somehow do not feel the need to have stupid quarrels with my brothers as often as I used to, if ever. And imagine, I was only two states away then. Such a small distance compared to now.

I spoke too soon.

I miss having meaningful talks with Daddy.

I miss watching sappy movies and buying pretty stuff with Mummy.

I miss sneaking up into Apai's room to get the car keys, and have him mumble something about 'isi minyak' with his eyes half open at 2 in the afternoon.

I miss watching F.R.I.E.N.D.S with Ang, just to laugh at Joey doing his silly audition dance.

I miss having Amil knock on my door and ask, "Yameen tengah buat apa?" ten thousand times, with only 2 minutes in between each time.

I miss going back to Ipoh, and gossip about Siti & Dato'K or some other sensational gossip with all my kepoh aunties and uncles at the dining table after dinner.

I miss being home.

...................................................................................................

On a totally different note, as James Morrison once sang -- I am not lost, just undiscovered.

"When you try your best but you don't succeed
When you get what you want but not what you need
When you feel so tired but you can't sleep
Stuck in reverse.

And the tears come streaming down your face
When you loose something you can't replace
When you love someone but it goes to waste
Could it be worse?

Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you."

Coldplay rocks, by the way.

End of Term Sharing
I had my end of term performance, finally! And it was GREAATTT!!

Firstly, I must THANK all of you who came - Alia, Alyaa, Kiran, Faisal, Ijat, Afida, James, Hadi, Kam, Jeff. You guys made me enjoy the night even more!! =0)

Okay, let's talk about the performance. Eh no! Before that let's mention a bit about my baju!! Haha! Last Monday, we were all given a blank white t-shirt each, and we were supposed to customize them ourselves. I was one of the 'semangat-ed' ones, and of course mine had to be colourful, haha!

Comel kaann? Those colourful thingies are pipe-cleaners or also known as those thingies used to tie up bunga telurs at kenduri kahwins. =0P Ramai orang lain conteng2 baju depa ngan marker je, so mine memang looked a bit too much. But I tak malu ke apa pon, coz I bangga ngan the baju. Hasil penat I tuu! =0)

Okay, back to the showww. =0) It was awesome! It ran for around 40 minutes non-stop, one dance after another. Of course I didn't dance every single dance, but I was in a most of them. =0) Best Gila! I enjoyed every bit of it! Lepas the whole show I was sweaty, which showed that I really did DANCE, not merely just 'moved' to the beat. I am so terribly sorry that I can't give a better description of the whole performance here in my blog, and also sorry coz I don't really have pictures or videos of me performing, but it was great indeed. =0D

After the show, the whole lot of us went to Tinseltown to makan!! It was fun to chit-chat with everybody, especially after being trapped in my room doing coursework, or practicing dance for the past few weeks. Seriously, you guys who came made my night so much more fun than it could have ever been. And the thought that you lot came purposely to see ME dance was sooo sswwwweeeetttt.. =0) I reaaaaalllyy appreciate it. Hugs and kisses all the wayy!

So that performance is done. But don't worry, I have another performance this weekend. The Company is performing for another event, called Ricochet : The Repercussions of Gun Crime. Here's a LINK to the event. Kalau ada sapa2 minat nak datang tengok, datangla. It's free anyway. =0P

Dalam seronok2 berdansa dan bergembira, I still have four more courseworks to be done. =0P And an online test to complete. AND, my Uni is apparently the only uni not on Easter holiday yet. =0( Oh well. I am still enjoying myself anyway. =0)

Tralalalallalaaaa!!!
