I'm Back!
The past week was THE BOMB! I don't even know where to start....!!

Actually, the week started off badly, coz I was sick last weekend. And not only was I 'sick', I was having everything - running nose, bad coughs, badan lesu, sweating, lallalala.... Demam sampai takleh bangun from katil tau!! Sedih gilaaa.. I stayed in bed for the whole of Friday and Saturday. Well actually not the whole two days, I went to dance practices in the two afternoons. But don't worry, all was goood. The practices actually made me feel 'fresher' if not 'healthier'. =0)

After the horrible flu and what not, I gained back all the energy I needed for Monday's competition - Face Off 2007. The event was held at the Hammersmith Palais - a great venue for gigs and stuff like that. The event was organised by King's College' Sri Lankan Society, and the night was amazingggg! The night had two parts - a musical section and a dance section. Universities from all over UK took part in both competitions including non-London Unis like Warwick Uni. The musical part was interesting, because it was something totally different from any other musical competition I've been to. They played traditional Hindi/Tamil/Sri Lankan songs live, which was very interesting, because they had all those cool traditional instruments! I enjoyed it of course, but then I had that nervous feeling in me throughout the whole musical session because City's dance was up first after the intermission. And you know what? My gut nervous feeling was there for a reason. In the middle of our dance, the song stopped, and jumped, and went haywire. Initially all of us froze on stage when it happenned, but then after regaining confidence we kept the show going. We danced through counting, and somehow managed to finish the whole routine. After that, the MCs told the audience that the 'incident' was not our fault, and they invited us to dance again. And we did. Haha! We danced twice on stage man! That was soo cool, don't you think so? Hahahahahh! And you wanna know something? WE WON SECOND PLACE!!!! HAHAHAHAHHAAHHAHH!!! Gempak tak gempaaakkkk!!! Honestly in my opinion all the other Uni's dances were superb! Of course ours was also SUPEERRBB, but I couldn't even make a prediction on to who will win, coz the probability of any Uni winning was equally likely! =0D

The next day, 'Iz Dat Us' had another performance, and this time it was at our home grounds - City University Great Hall. (FYI Iz Dat Us is our team's name, thanx to Markus. =0P) The performance that night went well. =0) And you know what, I miss 'Iz Dat Us' already! I would like to thank the whole team of 'Iz Dat Us' for giving me a splendid experience in entering the competition, and also thanx to Mr Izzat Serpudin a.k.a Ijat for coming and supporting (and being the photographer for the night. =0P).

Sorry, there are not many pictures. Banyak gambar turned out dark. One more thing. I know korang nak tengok video, malangnya I don't have it now. Maybe when I get it later, I'll post it up.

Anywayy, that was not the end of my dances for the week! =0) I had another performance, this time under the Oval House Dance Company. We performed at Sadler's Wells Theater in Islington for the Connect Festival organised by London Youth Dance. That was my first time performing with the company, so it was a bit scaryyy. But I must tell you, that was one of the best performances I ever did! Best gilaaa! I had so much funnnn! Our slot was only a mere 6 minutes, but I had terrible crazy funnnn every single secondd! Hahahahha!

I wish I had pictures to put up. =0P If I get pictures or the video from Yassmin later, I may put it up. Oh yes. Our choreographer's name is Yassmin. =0)

I am having another performance this coming weekend! And you guys can come watch me in that one! Anndd, the tickets can be booked online. So sapa2 nak datang, please buzz me on msn, or call me or text me. I'll give you the link and korang book la sendiri, okkaayy. =0)

Dance is a big part of my life now, and I'm enjoying it!

Other dancers may be on the floor
Dear, but my eyes will see only you
Only you have the magic technique
When you sway I go weak

Confessions on a Dance Floor
After wanting it for ages, Eijas finally sent me Madonna's whole album - Confessions on a Dance Floor, a few weeks back, and I am indeed loving it to pieces. Loving the tracks. Very Much. I understand that not many would agree with me, because the genre of these songs isn't really relatable. But I can relate to the beat, the lyrics, the whole thing. Loving it.

Most importantly, it's the title of the album that I relate to the most. Confessions on a Dance Floor. The dance floor is where I can express myself freely. The dance floor is where it is easiest to 'confess'. To give in to my emotions. To be free. Even a slight bob of the head following the beat of the song can relieve so much. The feeling of getting lost into the music, when you can literally hear nothing else but the bass beats of the song, when your body moves to each of these beats naturally, that's the best feeling. Mind you, I am not talking about the 'dance floors' in clubs in particular. Any open space could be a dance floor. Actually, you can even make a dance floor out of nothing. The mind can do one thousand things, and imagining a dancefloor is one of them. Yes, I enjoy dancing. I have always wanted to do it constantly, but never really had the chance. The only dance performance which I put a lot of effort in was KYS's 2004 Talentime Competition. That was probably where it all started.

And now, I am taking matters into my own hands. I am pursuing dance. Not as something I would do to earn, just as something to spice up my life. I joined City University's Dance Society and also the Oval House Theatre, initially to give me a more concrete foundation for my dancing. Now, after months of dancing under these two organisations, my dancing life is starting to bloom.

I am selected to be in the Oval House Dance Company, which performs around London on certain occasions. And I have also been chosen to be involved in an Inter-University dance competition. I am representing my unversity. =0)

Yameen's a dancer now. Yay.

"This is who I am
You can like it or not
You can love me or leave me
Coz I'm never gonna stop
No, no"
